Bilaspur Vishwavidyalaya (University) is a State University came into existence in June, 2012 and was established as per the Chhattisgarh Vishwavidyalaya (Amendment) Act, 2011. The University is situated near the Arpa River in a temporary hospital building in a village Sendari spread into 62 acres of land. Bilaspur University has jurisdiction which is extended to major five districts which are Mungeli, Jangir, Raigarh, Champa, Bilaspur and Korba.

It consists of nearly 117 Government and private colleges which are affiliated in the five districts of Chhattisgarh State which all together constitute the jurisdiction of Bilaspur Vishwavidyalaya.
